Getting Connected at OSU

»Introduction

Overview

In today's society, being connected to the Internet is very important. At OSU, it is a necessity as well. We understand this, and have worked hard to provide you with support documents that will get you connected as soon as possible.

There are many ways to connect to the internet. Students who live in residence halls have the option of connecting to the ResNet using high speed Ethernet. Wireless internet access is available in a variety of buildings on campus. Additionally, third party vendors in Corvallis as well as the rest of the country offer myriad services for reasonable prices.

About This Document

Our documents will be split into 2 sections: On-Campus, Off-Campus. We differentiate between the two because your internet solutions vary with location.

Use the links below to view the relevant information. To return to the top, use the "back to top" link, or you can access other sections by using the navigation bar to your left.

Changing your ONID Password

How do I change my ONID Password?

If you know your password, simply go to the ONID Home Page and log in normally. On the left hand side, the second link from the bottom says "Change Password" and will walk you through setting a new password. Don't forget your new password!

I forgot my password, how do I change it?

If you forgot your password, go to the ONID Home Page and click on "Change Password." You will be prompted to enter your Student ID number and your General Access PIN. You can then set a new password. Don't forget your new password!

I forgot my password AND my General Access PIN (GAP). Now what?

If you forgot both your password and your GAP number, go to Online Services and click on "Online Services Quick Login." Next, enter your student ID number and then click on the button that says "Forgot GAP?" You will be asked a security question and then can reset your GAP. Wait 10-15 minutes, then go back to the ONID Home Page and follow the instructions for changing a forgotten password above.

If the above step did not work, and you are a student, you need to call the Registrar's Office at 541-737-4331. If you are an employee, contact the OSU Computer Helpdesk at 541-737-3474.

You can get steady, reliable service worldwide with more than 860 POPs (dial-in numbers) in over 50 countries and over 500 POPs in the U.S. More POPs give you more connections with local calls, so you avoid paying long-distance charges. Special monthly rates are available beginning at $5.95 for 5 hours per month, $12.95 for 50 hours per month, and $17.95 for the 150-hour comprehensive plan.

Students, faculty, and staff of OSU are automatically pre-approved. Payment is handled through a monthly credit card billing; OSU departments can use the departmental VISA card for faculty and staff. There is a $10 setup fee. Users may elect to change or end plans at any time after the first month of services.
