Access SoftDist with Windows 95/98

Because Windows 95/98 does not have the ability to prompt a user for authentication credentials after their initial login, you must follow the simple procedure shown below to get access to the software distribution point.

Windows 95/98 will not pass your credentials to SoftDist correctly if you have an NT Domain login selected on your workstation. To allow you to access the software distribution server, you must TEMPORARILY disable login to your  normal NT Domain. You will reverse this process later, to ensure that your machine functions normally once you have installed your chosen software.

 

  1. Select 'Start', then 'Settings' and finally 'Control Panel'. As shown below.
  1. In the 'Control Panel' folder, double-click the 'Network' icon. The 'Network' control panel opens as shown below.
